Rabies can progress into a severe illness that causes hallucinations, hyperactivity, seizures, or paralysis if left untreated. After symptoms appear, therapy will be ineffective, and death will take place.
  • Prevention: Avoiding contact with any animals while away.
  • Three injections should be given at 0, 7, and 21–28 days prior to departure.
